Project: 336 +/- Unit Residential Development
Location: Lake Elsinore, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation for 336± single-family residences. The subject site was subdivided into four parcels. Parcel 1 will be developed with a 138 single family residences. Parcels 2 and 3 will be developed with 181 single family residences, and Parcel 4 will be developed with 17 single family residences, some commercial/retail development, and associated infrastructure. The subject site was located in an area which is subject to strong ground motions due to earthquakes and recommendations were made to mitigate damage.

Project: Tract 15821
Location: Costa Mesa, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation and grading observation for 5 single-family residences served by a common driveway. Recommendations for both conventional shallow foundations and post-tensioned slab foundations were provided. Southern California Geotechnical also monitored the grading activities during the construction phase of this project.

Project: Cardiff Crest, 17 Proposed Single Family Residences
Location: Encinitas, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation for a 3-acre site to be developed with 17 single-family residences. The proposed structures were two stories in height. The site was underlain by loose to medium dense alluvial soils, and by the Del Mar formation sandstone. Grading recommendations were provided to remove the cut/fill transitions that would be created by the proposed grading. The proposed structures were recommended to be supported on shallow foundations and slab-on-grade floors.

Project: Chaparral Ridge, Tract 28986
Location: Perris, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation and grading observation for a 100± acre property, proposed for development with 312 single-family residences. The borings and trenches and excavated at this site encountered potentially compressible alluvial and colluvial soils as well as significantly weathered bedrock. Recommendations for blasting in deep cut areas were provided. Recommendations for the design of conventional shallow foundation systems and floor slabs were provided. A seismic refraction study was also performed for this project. This project is currently complete.

Project: 8 Single Family Residences
Location: Perris, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation for a 1.75± acre property, proposed for development with 8 single-family residences. The geotechnical investigation prepared for this site identified collapsible near surface native soils. Remedial grading was recommended to provide a new, uniform layer of compacted structural fill beneath the foundations and floor slabs of the proposed structures. Recommendations for the design of conventional shallow foundation systems and floor slabs were provided.

Location: Perris, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation for a 100± acre property, proposed for development with 358 single-family residences. The geotechnical investigation provided recommendations for mitigation of potentially collapsible soils identified through this site. The proposed structures were recommended to be supported on conventional shallow foundation systems and slab on grade floors.

Location: Riverside County, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation for a 36± acre property, proposed for development with 130 single-family residences. The geotechnical investigation provided recommendations for mitigation of potentially collapsible soils identified through this site. The proposed structures were recommended to be supported on conventional shallow foundation systems and slab on grade floors.

Project: Sixty Single Family Residences (Tract 32035)
Location: Wildomar, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation including liquefaction evaluation and fault study for a 13± acre property, proposed for development with 60 single-family residences. The geotechnical investigation provided recommendations for mitigation of medium to highly expansive soils identified and throughout this site as well as recommendations to mitigate potentially liquefiable soil conditions. Surcharge of the existing soils with imported fill was recommended to consolidate soils below the groundwater table. Conventional shallow foundation systems were found to be unsuitable to support the proposed structures. Post-tensioned slab foundation systems were recommended to support the proposed structures.

Project: Tract 29725
Location: County of Riverside, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation and grading observation for a 20-acre property to be developed with 117 one and two-story single-family residences. This site is located adjacent to the Indian Hills Golf Course in Riverside County, California. The borings encountered potentially collapsible alluvial soils. Grading recommendations to mitigate the collapse potential of these soils were provided. Recommendations for blasting of unweathered bedrock were also provided. Following completion of the recommended grading, the proposed structures were recommended to be supported on shallow foundations. SCG also designed a Verdura 40 segmental retaining wall that will be constructed behind several of residential lots within this development. Southern California Geotechnical is currently monitoring post grading activities.

Project: Bel Maisson, Tract 15312
Location: Placentia, California
Description:  Geotechnical investigation and grading observation for a 22-acre site proposed for development with 102 single-family residences. This site was formerly occupied by several oil wells. Recommendations for mitigation of the soils around the wells were provided. Grading recommendations and the foundation and floor slab design parameters for this site were based on the presence of medium to high expansive soils. A preliminary liquefaction study was performed at this site. The results of this study indicated that the on-site soils were not subject to liquefaction. Grading operations were initiated on March 30, 2001. This project is complete.
